| T.R. Baalu assumed charge as Cabinet Minister of the then Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Road Transport & Highways on 24th May 2004 under the UPA Government. As major infrastructure sectors, Shipping and Road Transport were hitherto two separate Ministries. However, given the valuable support of DMK to the UPA, both these Ministries were put under Baalu. |
