| State programmes were reviewed on 16th May 2002 at New Delhi and 29th August 2003 at Dehradun. In the second meeting, progress of river conservation plans was reviewed in the background of the ensuing Ardh-Kumbh Mela at Hardwar in early 2004. Chief Minister was assured of speedy approval of all the pending projects in the Ministry concerning Kumbh Mela. Baalu took the opportunity to announce approval of conservation of five lakes in and around Nainital including the famous Naini Lake at an estimated cost of Rs.65 crore. The project would help improving ecology and boosting tourism at these places. |
