The progress of pending projects of Environment and Forestry of Gujarat was reviewed with Chief Minister on 9th October 2003 at Ahmedabad. The Rs.32 crore, 106 mld Pirana sewage treatment plant as part of the Rs.102 crore Sabarmati Action Plan was dedicated to the people of Gujarat by T.R. Baalu at a special function presided over by Chief Minister. The State Government and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation - the implementing agency of NRCP - were assured of further assistance for Phase II of Sabarmati Action Plan. Baalu took the opportunity to emphasize that future projects of townships of Housing Development Authorities must have a built-in component of sewage disposal and treatment system with matching provision for capital and recurring costs so that Government of India does not have to perennially support such projects forever. |
