Review of Pending Projects with Chief Ministers
Apart from environment and forest clearance of major projects, MoEF provides financial assistance to States on a number of other schemes. Baalu set up an innovative mechanism of frequent review of pending proposals in the Ministry with the respective Chief Ministers. Marginal farmers and economically weaker groups always received greater concern of T.R. Baalu. He, therefore, gave high priority to areas where interests of these sections of society were involved. He would take frequent review meetings with the Chief Ministers of almost all the States. In many cases he took the team of senior officers of the Ministry to the State Capitals to expedite disposal of pending issues. Prominent among these were meetings with the Chief Ministers of Goa on 3rd April 2000, Punjab on 19th April 2000, Haryana on 3rd December 2001, Uttarakhand on 16th May 2002 and 29th August 2003, Madhya Pradesh on 26th June 2001 and 12th September 2002, Kerala on 26th June 2001, Andhra Pradesh on 9th August 2001, Maharashtra on 16th May 2002 and 25th August 2003 and Gujarat on 9th October 2003. |
